To the bnn
letter to the editor on the article: “nobody comes for lectures anymore” bnn from june 24th, 2015 (from the region).

the article hit the nail on the head. the mood was really tense because there are still politicians - regardless of party - who believe they can put the population's concerns aside with a few polished sentences and warm words.u000bu000bhowever, the requests to speak and the heckling in the heat of the moment made it clear that it makes a big difference to announce a citizens' dialogue, but to simply avoid unpleasant questions or simply shift the responsibility onto others. for example, when asked about the course of the upcoming discussion on the demolition of the nuclear power plant in philippsburg, where enbw and the ministry of the environment had simply decided to implement convenient and cost-effective modalities. apparently the state government had no opportunity to demand anything stricter and everything was in accordance with the law. even by pointing out that we weren't in "north korea" to demand stricter standards against the top management, the speaker didn't make many friends. however, it was obvious to many of the outraged citizens that the cost aspect was the main focus. the statement that the limit values for air, water and soil must not be exceeded when demolishing the nuclear facilities anyway did not create any real trust.u000bu000bsince the listeners take time in their free time by taking part in such events, prepare themselves, express objective but of course also subjective opinions in the hope of a real dialogue, that is, on an equal level, it is understandable that when transparency is announced, they then emotionally demand it.
i've been wondering for a long time why our politicians don't really want to get involved with citizen participation. what do they have to lose if they really do everything for us citizens? i'm excited to see when there will be the first real citizen participation project in which a consensus is ultimately reached and supported by everyone. so far, unfortunately, in my opinion, people have only ever talked about it.
