one could almost assume that the writer of the letter to the editor is a paid lobbyist for the coal and nuclear industries or why does he keep defending them?
that humans have become the dominant climate factor in the industrial age and co2 scientists have long known that the use of coal has an impact on the climate (with a share of approx. 60%). since the 1st world climate conference in geneva in 1979, there have been 24 such conferences. the most important conferences took place in kyoto in 1997 and in paris in 2017, which called for significant reductions in co2 emissions. the scientists said clearly that a total abandonment of fossil fuels by 2050 is inevitable - uranium and thorium included. countermeasures such as reforesting forests and greening cities were also called for. further consequences must be: economical use of energy, measures in the transport sector, avoidance of dinitrogen n2o emissions through over-fertilization, making climate-damaging actions more expensive, promoting climate-friendly actions, vegetation protection.
in other words: if you want to control nature, you have to obey it, francis bacon once said. ecology today proves him 100 percent right. because anyone who doesn't play along, who plays incorrectly or ignores the rules of the game is thrown out - a process that nature has often used to get rid of subsystems that have gone wild.
today's young generation is clearly showing that they do not agree with this alternative and are taking to the streets en masse - thank you very much for that.
